Cypress Grill  Circa 1937 -  2018
A Limited Editon Print by Bailey Phelps
In Memoriam
On the evening of July 22, 2018 the Cypress Grill on the banks of the Roanoke River in Jamesville, North Carolina burned to the ground. It served the surrounding communities as well as eastern North Carolina for over 80 years. Its reputation as the only original fish shack still in operation was known all over the country and had been featured in national magazines, on national and statewide TV, and online blogs. Itís simple menu of fried fish, hush puppies, slaw and stewed potatoes was hard to beat. What it was best known for was fried herring cooked the way you like it, cremated, hard or regular.

I created this black and white print in memoriam to the Cypress Grill from my original drawing. There are only 200 prints available, printed on archival paper using archival ink. You can purchase the print below unframed for $45.00.

If you live in the Jamesville area and would like to pick up your print to avoid shipping contact bailey@roanokeriver.com or call Molly Long at 252-741-0046 to make arrangements.
